The Proclamation, Pt. I
“My life, as far as this story is concerned, begins here, at this point. Nothing before today really matters, because I didn’t know the same things yesterday that I know today. For example, today I know that I want to live in a far-away place, since I can’t live in a long-ago time. Today, I know that my life doesn’t have to be the product of my environment, that I don’t need to live a duplicate life of my parents, my neighbors, my friends. Today, I know that the world is a beautiful place and I should see every corner of it.”
